| Abstrakt | Special features of root surfaces may present difficulties in presurgical management of periodontal disease. The functional parts of instruments used for periodontal treatment are often incompatible with special root configurations. This is the main reason why 10-20% of root surfaces remain covered with infected subgingival concrement after scaling and root planing. Since this problem has received little attention in the literature so far, a detailed study of root surface characteristics might provide a lot of useful information. | |
