Abstrakt		Echocardiography is a noninvasive and harmless diagnostic procedure, increasingly used by cardiologists as a diagnostic tool. It is very important upon first examination of the patient as well as in subsequent control examinations. Echocardiography is particular useful in a number of abnormalities encountered in everyday outpatient clinical practise, especially in arterial hypertension, ischemic heart disease, congestiv heart failure and valvular diseases. The adventages of this method are presented for the most common diseases encounterd in cardiology outpatient departments.
Izvleček		Ehokardiografija je neinvazivna in neškodljiva diagnostična metoda. Preiskavo opravlja kardiolog kot pomemben diferencialno diagnostični pripomoček ob prvem pregledu in ob kasnejšem spremljanju bolnika. V vsakodnevni ambulantni praksi jo najpogosteje uporablja pri bolnikih z arterijsko hipertenzijo, ishemično boleznijo srca, boleznimi srčnih zaklopk in srčnim popuščanjem. Opisane so koristi metode pri najpogostejših boleznih v kardiološki ambulanti.
