Abstrakt     The involvement of the family is an important factor in the management of alcoholism. Regaining the communication, concentration on role conflicts and strengthtening of weakened emotional ties is the central issue of the sociotherapeutic approach to alcoholism. The aim of the study is to state the difference in family functioning of recovered alcoholics where spouses participate in the treatment versus families of recovered aicoholics without spouses participation in the treatment of alcoholism. A multidimentional questionnaire of famiIy functiioning FAM to show a different perspective on family strength and weakness was used. The sample comprises of recovered alcoholics and their family members, who receive group treatment in Association of recovered alcoholics. Therapeutic interventions, used in this form of family therapy in the treatment of alcoholism, are based on a complex approach. The results show a significant difference in family functioning of both groups. In the families, where the spouses don't participate in the treatment problems in the field of Control and Affective Involvement were found. The results will serve for more precise focusing of therapeutic interventions on the detected probiems of family functioning of recovered alcoholics that will enable them to achieve higher level of family functioning .
