Abstrakt     Modern contraception was introduced in Slovenia in the earty 1960s. From then on Slovenia developed a broad network of primary health care, including a gvnaecologis, whose participation made family planning principles and methods part of the routine practice. In 1989, the first survey on fertility behaviour in Slovenia was conducted. The 1989 survey showed that modern family planning has not been fully accepted yet and Slovenia was not yet among the developed societies in which the number of users of effective contraception was inversely related to the number of induced abortions. W'ith the 1995 Slovenian Family and Fertility Survey Slovenia participated among 21 other countries of Europe, North America and New Zeland in the international Farnily and Fertility Survey. The sample included in the survey was implicitly stratified by regions and involved three stages. The final nurnber of interviewees included in the survey was 4567,2719 women and men, aged 15 to 45. For the purpose of this paper, sexual and contraceptive trends in Slovenia will be presented.
