Abstrakt     The concept that antigen-antibody complexes are causal to certain inflammatory diseases was first suggested by Clemens von Pirquet (1911). Today, it is well established that cell binding of (auto)antibodies or the deposition of immune complexes in tissues are the pathogenic mechanisms underlying tissue injury in a number of diverse clinical conditions affecting the skin, joints, blood cessels and renal glomeruli. Initial approaches to the understanding of these conditions have stresses the roles of both the activation of the complement system and the accumulation of neutrophils as the main molecular and cellular mechanisms explaining the sequence of events leading to tissue damage. This brief review adresses basic mechanisms of complement activation in antibody-mediated inflammation and describes its contribution to hypersensitivity reactions.
Bolezenske spremembe nastanejo zaradi aktivacije komplementnega sistema in posledičnega zbiranja in aktivacije nevtrofilnih granulocitov v vnetišču. V sestavku opisujejo temeljne dogodke, ki so posledica aktivacije komplementnega sistema zaradi nastanka imunskih kompleksov in njihovo povezanost s preobčutljivostnimi reakcijami.
