Abstrakt		Complications of herpes zoster and antiviral treatment of herpes zoster in immunocompromised and immunocompetent patients are presented. Complications may be the result of an infection or inflammation at the site of herpes zoster, dissemination (probably hematogeneous) of the varicella-zoster virus from the involved skin to other tissues or organs, or the consequence of a special localization of herpes zoster. Far the most common complication in the course of herpes zoster is posherpetic neuralgia. Appropriate and early antiviral treatment enables shorter duration of herpes zoster rash and viral excretion (as a consequence also shorter infectiousness of patients), shorter and milder zoster-associated symptoms, and prevention or amelioration of eventual complications. Indications for treatment with antiviral agents and mode of treatment with valacyclovir, famcyclovir and acyclovir are presented.
Izvleček		Prikazani so zapleti in protivirusno zdravljenje pasavca pri bolnikih z okvarjeno in ohranjeno imunostjo. Zapleti so lahko posledica lokalnih sprememb na mestu izpuščaja, razsoja virusa varicella-zoster z mesta pasavca (najbrž) preko krvi v razna tkiva ali organe, ali pa so odraz posebne lokalizacije pasavca. Daleč najbolj pogost zaplet v poteku pasavca je postherpetična nevralgija. Z ustreznim in pravočasnim protivirusnim zdravljenjem skrajšamo trajanje izpuščajev in izločanje virusa in s tem kužnost bolnika, skrajšamo in omilimo dodatne težave v času izpuščaja ter preprečimo oziroma omilimo morebitne zaplete. Navedene so indikacije za zdravljenje in način zdravljenja z valaciklovirom, famciklovirom in aciklovirom.
