Abstrakt		The article reviews the basic diagnostic procedures used in our clinical laboratory for the recognition of eggs and cysts of intestinal parasites. Proper specimen collection, use of concentration methods and an experienced microscopist ensure accurate and reliable results. Specimen should be collected in the standard plastic container, without or with the fixative. The use of concentration procedures enhances the ability to detect infection when small numbers of parasites may be present. To detect the oocists of Cryptosporidium spp. and Isospora belli the modified stain by Ziehl-Neelsen is used. Enterobius vermicularis eggs may be recovered by cellophane tape techniques. High quality microscope should be available for the examination of specimens for parasites.
Izvleček		Članek opisuje osnovne diagnostične postopke, ki jih uporabljamo v našem kliničnem laboratoriju za prepoznavanje jajčec in cist črevesnih zajedalcev. Pravilen odvzem vzorca, uporaba koncentracijskih metod in izkušen mikroskopist omogočijo dobre in zanesljive rezultate. Vzorec odvzamemo v standardno plastično posodo brez fiksativa ali z njim. Uporaba koncentracijskih analitičnih metod poveča možnost, da najdemo zajedalce tudi ob nizki parazitemiji. Za dokaz prisotnosti oocist Cryptosporidium sp. in Isospora belli uporabljamo modificirano metodo barvanja po Ziehl-Neelsenu. Jajčeca podančic dokažemo s pomočjo lepljivega celofanskega traku. Za pregled vzorcev moramo uporabljati kakovosten mikroskop.
