Abstrakt | The bacterial cell wall peptidoglycan is a network of polysaccharides cross-linked with polypeptides. It serves to give the rigidity to the cell wall and protects bacteria from osmotic lysis. Research of inhibitors of peptidogycan biosynthesis is therefore important for development of new antibiotics. Many antibiotics, such as penicillins, cephalosporins, vancomycin, and cycloserine inhibit peptidoglycan construction. A short overview of peptidoglycan biosynthesis inhibitors is presented. | |
Izvleček | Peptidoglikan bakterijske stene je mreža polisaharidov, premrežena s polipeptidi, ki skrbi za trdnost celične stene in varuje bakterijo pred lizo. Iskanje zaviralcev biosinteze peptidoglikana je zato pomembno za razvoj novih antibiotikov. Na različnih stopnjah jo inhibirajo mnogi pomembni antibiotiki, kot so penicilini, cefalosporini, vankomicin, cikloserin. V članku podajamo kratek pregled inhibitorjev biosinteze peptidoglikana. | |
