Abstrakt | We recently reread J.A. Scopolis writings on fungi in both his works but paricularly in his first edition of Flora Carniolica (1760), an undertaking that lead us to write of his work on edible and poisonous fungi and to realize that he had described, among others, some cave fungi by 1760. For this, we are entitled to rank him as the first speleobiologist not only in Slovenia but in Europe. We also found that oil paintings of Carniolian fungi, a fact new to us, had been ordered before the printing of the first edition of Flora Carniolica. | |
