Abstrakt     In Slovenia, as in Europe, the lapwing (Vanellus vanellus) during the past years has almost completely changed its nesting habitat. Today, the majority nest on intesive monocultural fields and they are beginning to nest in drained ponds. Because of mechanization the majority of first clutches fail, so that the lapwing is forced to make a second nest. Later they are again endangered by farm machines and pesticides that poison foods of both adults and fledgelings. Ringed lapwings have demonstrated that Slovene birds overwinter in western Europe although some remain.
