Abstrakt		The paper explains the most significant recommendations found in the Slovene guidelines for the management of patients with arterial hypertension, among them particularly the definition of cardiovascular risk, aspired blood pressure and the choice of adequate hypertension control. Particular stress is on the minimal diagnostic program, the time when medicamentous control should be introduced and the choice of antihypertensive drugs.
