Abstrakt		On 11 October 1999 the Ljubljana Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Division of Perinatology decided to introduce a daily treatment of pregnant women, i.e. the Perinatal Day-Care Centre (hereinafter referred to as PDC). It began to operate in the fourth floor of the Ljubljana Maternity Hospital where the mixed F/G Unit (with 12 beds for new mothers and their newborns and 14 beds for pathological pregnancy cases) was closed for this purpose. The purpose of such an organization was to shorten the hospitalization of pregnant women or even avoid it when it is not absolutely necessary and consequently reduce the costs of their diagnostic and therapeutic treatments. The admittance to the PDC proceeds through the reception, according to an established procedure; while the services of medical and non-medical nature are for the time being still recorded as Initial Health Care. The PDC operates from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. from Monday to Friday. During this time pregnant women can rest on 6 beds, and they are also given breakfast and lunch.
