Abstrakt     CO is present in the air and even if the human body in non toxic concentration. But it's a dangerous gas because of his binds to hemoglobin with an affinity 200- 230 times that of oxygen. CO combines preferentially with hemoglobin to produce carboxyhemoglobin COHb. The consequence is the decrease in the oxygen carrying capacity of blood. The most important is to take the patient on the fresh air and start with the care. Application of 100% oxygen is required because that's the only way to accelerate the COHb dissociation. The most controversial and widely debated topic regarding CO poisoning is the use of hyperbaric oxygen (HBO). In the lecture there are some interesting scientific evidence to support the benefit of HBO.
