Abstrakt | The aim of the study was to identify the factors adversely influencing the voice quality after successful irradiation for early glottic cancer. In seventy-six subjects irradiated for T1 (64 subjects) or T2 (12 subjects) glottic cancer, the data on tumour extension, type of biopsy, irradiation technique, age, lung disease and smoking habits were correlated with the results of acoustic voice analysis and aerodynamic measurements. The study confirmed that men, subjects older than 65 years and smokers had increased shimmer. Tumor extending over more then one half of the vocal fold, and excisional biopsy before the treatment resulted in greater mean flow rate during phonation and greater jitter. The correlation between T stage, vocal fold mobility, irradiation technique, decreased pulmonary function, and poor voice quality was not significant. | |
