Abstrakt     The species composition of macrophytes in seven lakes of different type is presented in this paper. The lakes studied differ in many ways: origin, age, local climate, trophic state, geomorphology and activity in the watershed. The environmental factors influenced the distribution of macrophytes in studied lakes. The depth limit of macrophytes was deeper in the lakes with higher transparency (Lake Bohinjsko jezero, Lake Velenjsko jezero, Lake Krnsko jezero) and most species found in lakes are mostly specific for cold waters and waters rich in nutrients. Different populations of the same species show similar strategy of appearance and adaptation to these factors. In alpine lakes the vegetative season began later, the composition of species was different in comparison to those lowland lakes and there were less changes in abundance of species. The most abundant species in lowland lakes were Myriophyllum spicatum, Potamogeton crispus and Nuphar lutea whereas species from genus Chara and Potamogeton and Batrachium trichophyllum were predominant in the alpine lakes. Species occurring in alpine lakes are the same as the lowland lake flora. Lake Velenjsko jezero was used as a dump for ash from termopower plant and three years ago there was no macrophytes occurrence, due to high pH value of water. Construction of closed circleflow led to pH decrease and the consequence was invading of littoral with macrophytes. Chara sp., Nuphar lutea and Potamogeton crispus were pioneers, which colonised littoral of Lake Velenjsko jezero.
