Abstrakt		Cardiac arrhythmias are presented from the viewpoint of the coronary care unit. The paper concentrated on the significance and treatment of arrhythmias in acute myocardial infarction, conduction disturbances, and drug induced arrhythmias. A decision about the treatment modality first of all depends on the clinical status of the patient. An immediate electroconversion is indicated when arrhythmia is accompanied by myocardial ischemia, heart failure or hemodynamic compromise. In an uncompromised patient, pharmacological conversion mifgt be attempted first. Following the conversion, undelying causes need to be diagnosed first and treated as soon as possible.
