Abstrakt		Amiodarone, an antiarrhythmic agent with a wide range of antiarrhythmic activity, is discussed. A review of novel clinical studies confirming its efficacy and safety in the treatment of supraventricular and ventricular arrhythmias is presented. Amiodarone is especially useful for patients with structural changes in the myocardium in which other antiarrhvthmic agents proved to he harmful. Most systemic side effects are avoided with the use of low dosage regimen.
