Abstrakt		An increase in the number of patients with coumarins for treatment of atrial fibrillation demands a novel scheme of organisation. The anticoagulant clinic (University medical centre, Department of angiology) proposed transfer of supervision of anticoagulant treatment in patients with atrial fibrillation to primary medical care. Only patients with stable anticoagulant treatment without increased risk for complications could be considered. At primary medical care level each physician could supervise 200 patients with anticoagulant treatment. The anticoagulant clinic offers continuous consultation possibilities and cares for doctrinal principles of anticoagulant treatment.
