Abstrakt     The introducing of patient's free choice of a general practitioner in primary health care and the implementation of family practice model is step-by-step process, demanding time for adopting and reforming the primary care structure. The aim of the research work is to find the patient's point of view about the family practice: if they want to have a family practitioner, which are the reasons influencing their decision, and if there are special requests for family practitioner by the patients, living in the families. The research was made in 7 general practices in Lendava, in december 1996. There are 12700 patients registrered, on average 1800 per practice, 5 % of all patients were asked to take part in the research, what means 635 patients, 90 in each practice. A questionnaire was anonyme, the datas were collected in the questionnaire, made especialy for this purpose. The questionnaire contained questiones of both, closed and opened types. 630 patients filled out the questionaire, 604 correctly, so we can use them in our research. By 337 (55,79 %) examinees the choosen practitioner is abready working as family practitioner. The family practitioner is requested by 366 (60 %) of them, more them half of them living in families with children (63,66 %). The most frequently quoted reasons were a better acquaintance with family problems, a more reliable care, a higher degree of trust, whill less important reasons were an easier handling of home visits and bureaucrocy matters. 210 (34,77 %) examines expressed themselves against a family practitioner, most if them living in families with children (121,57 %). Mostly with reasons for such an attitude were the inability of a family practitioner to take care of persons of different ages, each individuali right to choose a personal doctor and the right to privacy. The reasons for such attitude might be : no current experiences with a family practice and no family practice tradition. (Abstract truncated at 2000 characters.)
