Abstrakt     The author demonstrates in the introduction to the paper how different the expectations are that society has of men and women by presenting the case of sexual harassment and the different reactions women and men make to such an event. The author continues by giving an historical overview of this subject matter, in which she shows that sexual harassment was first identified as a problem only several decades ago within the framework of the women's movement and such consciousness raising groups. On the legal level, sexual harassment emerged for the first time in the context of sexual discrimination in the United States of America, later becoming a subject of debate in Europe as well. Slovenia lags behind Europe in legal provisions and public awareness. The struggle against sexual harassmnet is a component of EU policy and its promotion of equality. The author, therefore, concludes that such research on registered nurses and sexual violence, along with legal proposals for regulating the problem, is an important step towards changing the mentality that considers such problems unimportant and unreal.
