Abstrakt     Reduction of the incidence and lethality of communicable diseases after the introduction of vaccines is evident and some life-threatening epidemics have disappeared. Certain infectious diseases are now being eliminated or even eradicated. No doubt that immunisation providing with wisdom from professional, ethical and economical points of view contributes to health and farewell of people and whole population. The term immunisation doesn't mean only application of the vaccines but all necessary work for implementation, providing and evaluation. The most important for the successful immunisation programme is data on target population and well co-ordinated immunisation schedule based on knowledge of both epidemiology of diseases and the immune response of vaccinated individuals and target group. Expanded programme on immunisation needs proper organisational infrastructure including medical staff, immunogenic and safe vaccines of high quality and an adequate surveillance data. The new model of computerised national immunisation programme, surveillance and evaluation has been developed in Slovenia. The vaccination is provided by nominated paediatricians, school and public health physicians in public and private sector respecting good medical practice. The immunisation programme that is yearly licensed by Ministry of Health is provided continuously and co-ordinated by regional and national coordinators. During the vaccines storage and distribution that is centrally provided by National Institute of Public Health good storage practice and cold chain are fully respected. The data on target population is distributed by Central Population Register. Immunisation surveillance and evaluation is supported by hardware and software that assure rapid data exchange and allows permanent surveillance of immunisation activities on every level by age groups any time and not only yearly as before the introduction of the new system.
