Abstrakt     The present research aimed to examine the applicability and effectiveness of the two months' individual training programme designed to develop the pupils' endurance during the school sports education process. The research was carried out on a sample of 565 fifth grade male and female pupils from 17 primary schools in the Republic of Slovenia. The experimental group comprised of 295 boys and girls, and the control group included 270 pupils of both genders. The data obtained were processed at the Faculty of Sport by means of SPSS 9.0 for Windows (descriptive statistics and analysis of covariance). The results of final testing have shown that the boys and girls in the experimental group compared with those in control group made statistically significant progress in 600m run and in the adapted step test, i. e. in those two variables we hoped to influence by our experimental endurance training programme.
Izvleček     S pričujočo raziskavo smo skušali dokazati uporabnost in učinkovitost individualno zasnovanega dvemesečnega programa vadbe za razvoj vzdržljivosti pri procesu šolske športne vzgoje. Raziskovanje je bilo opravljeno na vzorcu 565 učenk in učencev 5. razredov v izbranih sedemnajstih osnovnih šolah v Republiki Sloveniji. Eksperimentalna skupina je zajela 295 učenk in učencev, kontrolna pa 270. Podatki so bili obdelani na Fakulteti za šport s statističnim programom SPSS 9.0 for Windows (deskriptivna statistika in analiza kovariance). Dobljeni rezultati so pokazali, da so v končnem merjenju učenke in učenci eksperimentalne skupine, v primerjavi z učenkami in učenci kontrolne skupine, statistično značilno napredovali v teku na 600 metrov in v prilagojenem step testu. To pomeni v tistih spremenljivkah, na katere smo z eksperimentalnim programom vadbe za razvoj vzdržljivosti želeli vplivati.
