Abstrakt		The work is dealing with investigation of the activity of monoamine oxidase and its two forms (isoenzymes) in single odontoblast isolated from the teeth of the rat and the human. First the basal characteristics of enzyme and both isoenzymes are described. The theoretic part represents the dental pulp and tge elements of dental pulp, especially innervation and odontoblast. Function of odontoblast and involvement of some parts of dental pulp in transmission of dentinal pain, different theories about it and influence of aging on dental pulp are mentioned as well. In section dealing with materials and methods isolated of odontoblast and measuring of monoamine oxidase are presented. The results are presented in tables and diagrams. In single odontoblast of rat's and human tooth both isoenzymes of monoamine oxidase were found. Follows the discussion of results and their comparison with the results of other authors. In conclusion significance of monoamine oxidase and both its forms in odontoblast of rat and human are still unknown
