Abstrakt     Patients with unstable spine lesion at the level of thoraco-lumbar crossing with a consequent complete clinical lesion of the spine and simultaneous paraplegy can walk again with the help of aids. The weak muscles of the limbs can be recompensed with the upper leg supporting device to stabilize ankles and knees. The rest of the musculature according to the hight of the lesion enables sufficient stabilization of the pelvis. We have tested a new type of upper leg orthosis for paraplegics on a homogenous group of young paraplegics and in a certain phase of the rehabilitation. In a week time distance each of the patients got a pair of classical orthoses and a pair of orthoses made according to new principles, improved in the foot and ankle part, in the material and number of cuffs. All the improvements brought to cheaper and quiker production, lighter aid and better design. The programme of exercises and walk was the same in both cases. We even measured the time of taking/off and tried, with the help of plate stabilometry and biomechanical analysis of the gait, to show the advantages of each pair of orthoses prescribed to a paraplegic. The analysis will be reported in different computer programmes
