Abstrakt		The article describes programmed health education of relatives of demented patients. Basic components of the health education program, its purpose and aims are presented, as well as similar programmes that are being carried out elsewhere in the world. The article defines the basic needs that dictate such an approach, describes dementia and the consequential deficiencies in the field of self-care and overall functioning. The author delineates individual contents units, the method of organisation and evaluation of the program and also describes the first experience.
