Abstrakt     Violence has become a part of reality. Although it is not solely a medical problem, it can be - like other injuries approached with a systematic, multidisciplinary method. Studies of social skills in children show a decline in social competence. We can't afford to educate children without providing same form of moral guidance at the same time. Emotional illiteracy can prove fatal to mental and physical health. Young people must be protected against themselves. They must be taught how to solve problems peacefully and how to develop emotional intelligence and an understanding of group dynamics. A group leader can take over a crucial role in the prevention of violence in school. Some models f'or research and prevention of violence are suggested. Well planned and coordinated measures are needed which require colaboration of various educational, health, social, legislative, police and town planning institutions. Application of the Haddon public health approach at the primary level is recommended.
Izvleček     Nasilje je postalo del naše stvarnosti. Seveda nikakor ni le zdravstven problem, a - kot druge vrste poškodb - je dostopno sistematičnemu, multidisciplinarnemu pristopu. Raziskave o socialnih spretnostih otrok kažejo, da so njihove socialne kompetence vedno slabše. Ne moremo si več privoščiti izobraževanja otrok, ne da bi jih hkrati vzgajali. Posledice čustvene nepismenosti za duševno in telesno zdravje so lahko usodne. Mlade moramo zaščititi pred njimi samimi. Naučiti jih je treba miroljubnega reševanja sporov, razvijanja čustvene inteligence in dinamike skupine. Vodja skupine lahko prevzame odločilno vlogo pri preprečevanju nasilja v šoli. V prispevku predlagamo nekaj modelov za raziskovanje in preprečevanje nasilja. Potrebni so dobro načrtovani in usklajeni ukrepi, pri katerih tesno sodelujejo različni segmenti družbe, kot so šolstvo, zdravstvo, socialna dejavnost, pravo, policija in urbanisti. Na primarni ravni se priporoča uporaba Haddonovega javnozdravstvenega pristopa.
