Abstrakt     The result of a model based diagnostic reasoning in a set of declarations about components' behavior called diagnosis. Generally, there may be several competing diagnoses, which explain the same faulty system. However, they represent only a temporary diagnostic result because only a unique diagnosis is the final diagnostic goal. So, the diagnostic process must be repeated by performing an additional measurement of the system until unique diagnostic result is obtained. In this situation it is not completely clear what is an applicable definition of assessment factors. The paper describes a methodology to estimate a result of a model-based diagnostic approach. We expect that the methodology will be a good aid for design of model-based diagnostic systems. Especially at requirements definition when we must take into consideration a numerous limitations like diagnostic costs, available resources, etc. And finally, analyzing the estimation indexes helps us to discover weaknesses for a single diagnostic situation when the diagnostic system is in regular use.
