Abstrakt		An overview of the current state in healthcare informatics (HCI) in Slovenia is given. Some fileds, where Slovenia should make progress to take pace with other wetern European countries, are sugested. These are: establishing the national strategy in HCI, built-ip of the national communication/information infrastructure, more investments in pilot projects in the filed of HCI, permanent education healthcare workers and efforts to change healthcare workers' attitude towards their work and role within the Slovene society.
