Abstrakt		Aromatherapy is an alternative to occupational therapy for seriously handicapped children or adolescents. It makes possible to establish contact and quality touch with child or adolescent, build up trust and self-respect and encourage the wish for activity. The advantages of aromatherapy lie in its directly evident results. Seriously handicapped children and adolescents accept aromatherapy with enthusiasm. Different possibilities of aromatherapy can be used with a large variety of handicapped persons. In certain cases aromatherapy is used as a substitute for medicamentous therapy.
