Abstrakt		Thyroid storm and myxedema coma are rare life-threatening conditions in patients with long standing severe untreated disturbances of thyroid function in whom adaptive machanisms fail to maintain homeostasis. Acute exacerbations of the symptoms are induced by intercurrent illness, especially infection. The clinical picture and treatment of both conditions are discussed.
