Abstrakt     Statistically the incidence of foreign bodies in the respiratory tract of adults is much lower as compared to children. Foreign bodies are also found more frequently in the digestive than in the respiratory tract. In the respiratory tract they are mostly found in the right lung owing to the anatomy of the respiratory system. Despite these data, in a suspicious anamnesis involving a foreign body in adults we should also consider the possibility of foreign body aspiration in the lungs. At first contact with such a patient an attempt should be made to remove the object by manipulation and provoking coughing. However, the general condition of the patient and the size of the foreign body should be considered. It is our belief that this procedure is better carried out during hospitalization, particularly due to possible complications and the possibility of emergency bronchoscopic removal.
