Abstrakt     Background. Adolescents represent the risk group for sexually transmitted diseases (STD). The most common STD's are caused by Chlamydia (C.) trachomatis, however the human papiloma virus (HPV) has been recently known as the main problem as well. The aim of our study was to find out the correlation between the usage of different contraception, sexual behaviour and the incidence af C. trachomatic and HPV in adolescencents. We also wanted to know, if the prevalence of C. trachomatis was so high that the testing and the antibiotic prophylaxis would be necessary before artificial termination of pregnancy. Methods. The study took place at the University Medical Centre, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Ljubljana, Slovenia, between 1996 and 1998 and included 200 adolescents, who had reached the age of 19. They were divided in two groups. In the first group 100 adolescents, who came to clinic due to artificial abortion, were included. In the second group another 100 adolescents, who came because of the contraception, were included. The cervical smears were taken to estimate C. trachomatis and HPV 16 in 18. The blood was drawn to determine Hepatitis B, Syphilis and HIV. Results. l. trachomatirwas isolated in 6% (n=6) af patients in the first group and in 4% (n=4) of patients in the second group (p=NS). HPV was confirmed in 26% (n=22) of patients in the first group and in 13ž (n=13) in the second group (p<0,05). The other STD's were not faund in any group. The half of the patients used the condoms. The positive correlation was found between the number of sexual partners and the infected patients with HPV. (Abstract truncated at 2000 characters)
