Abstrakt     Atypical respiratory infections are different from bacterial ones according to clinical symptoms. They show a slowly onset of disease, most common with a pharyngitis initialy, followed by general symptoms, malaise and dry cough. The ethiology should be confirmed serologicaly, but the results are comming only later in the course of the disease. Clinical symptoms, laboratory findings and X-ray changes of 33 patients with atypical pneumonia have been analyzed. Only in less than half of cases the parameters were found as generaly described. On the other hand, in vitro diagnostics has been performed in I of cases, where atypical infection was not confirmed. Therefore, epidemiological studies are needed to enable correct clinical approach to atypical respiratory infections. These infections also have influence on the immune response, being initiated in antigen presenting cells of respiratory system. They are suggested to be possible inductors of asthma, bronchiolitis and interstitial lung diseases.
