Abstrakt		The consequences of head trauma in traffic accidents are described. The clinical characteristics of brain conslussion, brain contusion with cantracoup injury and diffuse exonal injury are presented. Depending of the time after actual head injury in the traffic accident the primary, secondary and terciary brain injury is described. The patients are stratified into one of three groups based on the likelihood of intracranial injury. More detailed the postconcussive syndrom is presented together with the possibilities of treatment. Clinical cases of intracranial injury are presented in the figures.
