Abstrakt | The aim of the study was to find out what kind of advanced assistive technology for independent living and environment control tetraplegic patients have and use at home. The aim was also to determine whether they would need any other kind of advanced assistive technology to achieve a higher level of independence and a better quality of life. Three tetraplegic patients (two male and one female) with the same neurological level of injury - C4, participated in the study. Telephone interview and home visit were carried out with all three patients. Our study shows that independently performed activities in C4 patients are related to the use of assistive technology and devices. Use of assistive technology reduces the burden and stress experienced by patients' relatives, improve the patients' quality of life and open new dimensions in their lives. | |
