Abstrakt     Data on primary health care of women for the year 2000 should be interpreted with caution. The changed service paying (introduction of a combined system of capitation and a new method of data acquisition) in the second half of the year brought about changes in the recording of reasons for preventive health visits of women. As a result, two different methodologies were used in the same year and hence a comparison of the acquired data with figures for the past years may be misleading. Because of the great speed at which the changes were introduced into practice, building up the system of computerized data collection was continued throughout the second half of the year. This resulted in inaccurate recording of data for some women's health services (hospitals) and for some geographical areas. A 2.2% decrease in the total number of attendances was reported in 2000, yet because of the altered data acquisition methods the figure is of little significance. The analysis of semi-annual statistics showed that data acquired for the first half of 2000 were comparable with the data for the same period in 1999. The data indicate that the number of preventive visits fell by 1.7?l. This figure too was influenced by changes in data acquisition and by the fact that several services (examination, consultation) were provided within the framework of one visit. This change was taken into consideration in statistical surveys of the type of visit, but for health care providers the services were considered separately to allow for a more complex and methodologically more accurate analysis of health care providers. The altered methodology had no impact on figures for curative visits, therefore the recorded 2.7?l decrease in the number of visits made for curative purposes was considered accurate.
