Abstrakt     Single fish olfactory receptor cells are spontaneously active and respond to chemical stimulation with either decreased (suppression) or increased (excitation) action potential firing rates. The change of empirical distribution function slope is used for detection of activity change. The slope at each event is determined as a slope of local regression line in the neighborhood with a fixed number of events. Significant changes of activity are detected as deviations from the expected activity during the spontaneous activity prior to stimulation.
