Abstrakt     Some data on breeding success of Whinehat (Saxicola rubetra) were collected in 2001 on Ljubljansko barje and compared with data collected in 2000. Breeding density was simmilar in both years. Minor deviations were probably due to methodological weaknesses. Clutch size was significantly smaller in 2001 than in 2000. Whinchats also commence with breeding significantly later in the season in 2001. The most probable cause for both differences was cold and wet spring 2001, causing a delay in development of invertebrate fauna - food for Whinchats. Nevertheless, poor weather conditions influence a delay in mowing too, so the proportion of nests destroyed during haymaking did not differ considerably from proportion in year 2000. Basing on this finding I conclude, that influence of mowing on breeding success do not differ from year to year considerably, regardless on starting date of breeding - on extensively used meadows 40-50% of nests fail to produce fledglings, due to negative impact of mowing. There is a possibility that this estimation is a bit to high, since it does not taking into consideration a selective selection of microlocation of the nest site. From data collected in two years I outlined the plan of periods of high breeding sensitivity of Whinchats, indicating, that the worse time for mowing is in May and in first half of the June.
