Abstrakt     Physical activity is protective against most noncommunicable diseases. The aim of the article is to show the level of physical activity of students of the 1 st year of study on Ljubljana University. The study has been conducted prospectively on 206 students and included a questionnaire and clinical examination. The mean age of the participating students was 19 years. As physically active 52% have been identified. There was no statistically significant sex related difference in physical activity. There was no statistically significant difference in smoking habits, BMI and blood pressure between physically active and inactive part of the studied sample. We can conclude that youth needs a constant stimulation towards physical activity as most people cease physical activity in early adulthood.
