Abstrakt		During the photodegradation study of diethyl E-4-(2-(2-(tertbutoxycarbonyl)vinyl)phenyl)-2,6-dimethyl-1,4-dih ydropyridine-3,5-dicarboxylate in acetonitrile solution beside expected air oxidation product and the product of vinyl group trans to cis isomerisation an interesting cyclobutanic derivative has been isolated. The later is formed by the intranmlecular (2+2) cycloaddition. Its crystal structure has been determined and the mechanism of formation explained. The performance of photodegradation under inert gas give almost complete conversion to that cycloaddition product.
