Abstrakt     *Slovenia on the Move Project-With Motion to Health* is the joint project of CINDI Slovenia and Sports Union of Slovenia, which started in 1999. The purpose of this project is to encourage involvement of adults and senior citizens of Slovenia into more regular and moderate physical activity. The main goal is to increase the number of the Slovenian people, who practice half an hour moderate physical activity per day, by 10 % in 5 years. The principal method used in this project is the UKK Walk Test, which predicts maximal aerobic power. It is simple, safe, reliable and repeatable field test, which also represents an excellent tool for promoting Health-Enhancing Physical Activity. In three years we managed to educate several health and sport professionals all over the country, who are able to perform the 2 km walking test and to advise the tested individuals about Health-Related Fitness in everyday life. In three years 134 tests were carried out in 38 Slovenian towns. All together there were around 6300 people tested. The average fitness index was 91 (women 94, men 88ž. On average 47 people were tested (bb% women, 34% men) at each test. The most participants were between 35 and 60 years old. The project also included media coverage on national and local level in order to promote regular and safe physical activity as an important component of healthy lifestyle. In the future we would like to expand the number and places of walk tests by 20% and also recruit younger people, who are physically inactive and overweight.
