Abstrakt     Deficiency of assessing the sensorimotor development in children by concept Bobath, which is used in Slovenia, is described. Movement assessment of children - MAC is described as an appropriate assessment tool. Testing the appropriateness of MAC was carried out in 15 children; sensorimotor development was tested three times. The assessment was repeated every month. The results reveal that MAC is an appropriate assessment tool for babies who are from 2 to 12 months and for children with disorders of the central nervous system, who are older than 12 months and do not walk independently In these two groups it is sensitive enough to differentiate changes in accomplishment and quality of movement. In the research MAC was not appropriate for assessing the movement of children with the central nervous system disorders, who are older than 12 months and walk independently. It is not sensitive enough to distinguish smaller changes of the quality of this activity while walking and standing. The time periods proposed for repeated assessment are: from 1 to 2 months for babies and from 2 to 4 months for the group of children who are older than 12 months. The recording of the MAC assessment takes 30 minutes, which is half of the time needed at concept Bobath. Although this time is shorter the quality is not worse. Oral control and feeding ought to be listed additionally
