Abstrakt		Peripheral neuropathy is a common disease which affects diverse pathological changes on one or more sites in the peripheral nervous system. The classifications of this impairment are based on clinical, phenomenological, pathological, genetic or other underlying features. The diagnostic procedure is very intricate, considž ring the diverse structures and processes that may be impaired. Additionally peripheral nerves contain different types of nerve fibres, from very thin, unmyelinated C fibres to small myelinated A-delta fibres and further to large A-alpha and A-beta fibres. Therefore, in addition to the disease history and neurologic examination, accurate neurophysiologic tests are obligatory Routine electrodiagnostic tests (nerve conduction studies and electromyography), quantitative sensory testing, autonomic nervous system evaluation and nerve (and/or muscle) biopsy are provided as a necessary supplement to the available data.
