Abstrakt		Topical corticosteroids for dermal use are among the most frequently used dermatologicals. Number of available agents of different strength and vehicles is increasing. Along with recent development of high-potency topical corticosteroids, the potential for unpleasant adverse effects has increased. Therefore, clinicians should be familiar with the uses, adverse effects and contraindications of these preparations. The article presents principles of use of topical corticosteroids in the field of dermatology from the viewpoint of prevention of serious adverse effects, as adverse effects resulting from thoughtless and uncontrolled use of dermal steroids are often the reason for consultation with a dermatologist.
Izvleček		Kortikosteroidi za lokalno uporabo na koži so eno najpogosteje uporabljenih zdravil v dermatologiji. Število derivatov različne učinkovitosti in število farmacevtskih oblik te skupine zdravil še vedno narašča. Z razvojem močno učinkovitih pripravkov se veča tudi nevarnost stranskih učinkov, zato je nujno, da dobro poznamo njihovo uporabo, stranske učinke in kontraindikacije. Prispevek obravnava načela uporabe kortikosteroidov za lokalno uporabo v dermatologiji s stališča preprečevanja resnejših oblik stranskih učinkov. Zapleti nepremišljenega ali nenadzorovanega zdravljenja s kortikosteroidi so namreč dokaj pogost vzrok za napotitve v dermatološko ambulanto.
