Abstrakt     Delivering bad news in emergency medicine, e.g. "the injured person died, reanimation doesn't make sense" or "uneliminating body damages have been caused" etc., is a responsible act, which influences crucially on responding of an individual and family or relatives. It demands certain knowledge and skills, which includes the answer about patient's feelings or his relatives feelings, controling the stress in expectation of the best response about the medical treatment and how to give hope, considering the fact, that the situation isn't good. Bad news is defined as news, which uncomfortably and importantly affects individual's view of the future. It is usually transmitted in spoken word. Its main meaning is, that it causes stress situation, which could change individual's behaving in the society. Consequently, it can leave uneliminating damages of health condition. Delivering bad news must be focused to the following goal: collecting adequate number of information about the patient, transmiting information to the patient or to his relatives in an appropriate way and to enable support at responding. That can only be reached, in a way with the least stress, by knowing certain recommendations, which are known in the whole world for a longer period of time and which have been learnt lately in Slovenia, too. SPIKES - protocol of delivering news, which is very near to reaching goals by delivering bad news. It enables, that the stress situation and its consequences for health, which affect the person, who delivers news (mostly a doctor) on one side and on the other the person, who are news adressed to (by accidents with mortal outcome are these people relatives, in a case of disability also the patient) threaten an individual to the minimal point.
