Abstrakt     There are 14 maternity units in Slovenia, despite that there are few cases of emergency home delivery every year. We collected the data of those deliveries, referred to Ljubljana maternity unit in the period from 1.1.1999 to 30.4.2002. There were 19 deliveries, 53 % ended in less than 2 hours, 85 % women were multiparous. Risk group for emergency home delivery constitute women, who don't attend antenatal visits at gynaecologist and are mostly from lower socio-economic group. Rapidly occurring delivery in the healthy woman with the healthy foetus is usually uncomplicated. There are less trauma and better Apgar scores if medical help is available during emergency delivery. Anyway home delivery should remain the exception since it is unable to guarantee a birth as undangerous as possible.
