Abstrakt     Background. The definition of the criteria for standard primipara enables interunit comparison of indicators of the process and outcome of maternity and child care. Our work can be evaluated. Insufficiencies can be recognised and removed. Methods. Primiparas, delivering a baby in Teaching hospital Maribor during a period 01.09.2001-31.12.2001 and fulfilling the criteria for standard primipara, were gathered. Multiple logistic regression analysis and ANOVA test were used. Results. 139 primiparas fulfilled the criteria for standard primipara. Mode of delivery was independent of maternal age, birthweight or liquor. In 89,9% of cases delivery was a vaginal spontaneous, in 5,8% a vacuum extraction was applied and in 4,3% a caesarean section was made. Delivery was stimulated with oxytocine in 60,4% of all vaginal deliveries. Analgesia was received by 77,7% of women. Episiotomy was made in 77,4%, perineum was intact only in 6,8% of cases. The average estimated blood loos was 27 ml. More than 500ml of blood loos was in 1,4% of all deliveries. The average birthweight was 3440g and the average Apgar score after 5 minutes was 8.9. 7,9% of all newborns were admitted to Neonatal intensive care unit. Discussion. Standard primiparas delivery is uncomplicated. It finished as vaginal spontaneous in 94,0% of cases. A negativ indicator of maternal care is a big percentage of episiotomies (77,4%) we made. Their number should be minimized. The average estimated blood loos greater than 500 ml was observed only in 1,4% of cases. This is a positive indicator of maternal care. There is a statistically important correlation between admission to SCBU, Apgar score after 5 minutes (p=0,001) and fetal blood sampling (p=0,000). We have to compare our achievements with other units to make a better quality evaluation of our work.
