| Abstrakt | In this article, some problems of the aged living in the nursing home and suffering from mental diseases are presented. The most common diseases and their treatment are described and the importance of a psychiatrist in this treatment, his co-operation with a physician and other medical staff, and also with the relatives. Since there are some particularities of mental disease of the elderly and their treatment with psychotropics, it is necessary that a consiliary psychiatrist visits the nursing home on a regular basis. His role is very important and it is proved that regular visits of psychiatrist in the nursing home substantially reduce the number of suicides and heteroaggresive behaviour among the elderly. It is also noteworthy that the need to take this people to psychiatric hospitals is reduced. At the same time, some misunderstandings between elderly in their relatives on one side and the home's staff on the other side are less often. | |
| Izvleček | V pričujočem članku je avtor prikazal probleme duševnih bolezni v domu starejših občanov in njihovo obravnavo. Opisane so najpogostejše duševne bolezni, njihovo zdravljenje, vloga psihiatra pri tem in njegovo sodelovanje s splošnim zdravnikom, negovalnim osebjem in svojci oskrbovancev. Zaradi posebnosti psihiatričnih bolezni in njihovega zdravljenja s psihofarmaki mora imeti vsak dom starejših občanov psihiatra. Njegova vloga je večplastna. Redni psihiatrični obiski v domu vplivajo na zmanjšanje števila samomorov, heteroagresivnih dejanj med oskrbovanci in manjšo potrebo po hospitalizaciji v psihiatričnih bolnišnicah. Sočasno se s tem zmanjšajo nesporazumi med oskrbovanci in svojci na eni ter domskim osebjem na drugi strani. | |
