Abstrakt		As the last one of the three institutions dealing with rehabilitation of deaf and hard of hearing in Slovenia, our institution has last year begun with active rehabilitation of person with cochlear implant. I shall present our first experience, a girl that got Med-el's cochlear implant. At the time of the operation she was eight years old and attended 1st grade of primary school. The parents have decided for this important and responsible step quite late. They were preparing for it quite a long time. They have decided for it together with the girl and with a lot of expectations and uncertainty waited for their turn. The eyes of other parents were turned to them too, especially to the first results of the girl's improvement. Soon it turned out that the decision was more than appropriate. Suitable preparation for the cochlear implant and motivation of the girl provided the key of her success despite her age. Despite the quite short time of the first setting of the speech processor up to today, the girl is progressing very well and at quick pace. Most of the credit for such success goes to the girl herself. With firm optimism, hard work and unlimited desire to hear she by herself constantly explores and perceives the world of sound. She is assisted by the entire family and the enjoy every step of progress together.
