Abstrakt		The present research was aimmed to assess the state in. the field of drug use among the students of Ljubljana. Our findings were achieved by collecting the results of the inquiry, specially prepared and directed. This inquiry was answered by 527 students od the University od Ljubljana, following the rules of patterning. The data gathered and processed through a computer, pointed at the fact that there are very few total abstainers, as well as there are also few regular users of not traditionally used drugs. Most frequently our students use alcohol and tobacco, alcohol mostly periodically, whereas the use of tobacco is frequent with almost one third of the students. They rarely use other drugs periodically, while regular use of these other drugs is most scarce. Periodical users of different Kinds of drugs differ among themselves as to certain characteristics. In some groups of students (namely frequent users of alcohol and users of sedatives) we were able to ascertain the negative influence of bad family relation ships, the parents' use of drugs, a greater psychosomatic reactivity, and of an inactive attitude to onself and one's enviroment. These conclusions indicate specific directions by themselves, also as regards the possibilities of the prevention of drug abuse, possibly not only in the student population, but in other populations as well.
